In being on the look out for nice Ukuleles I see the work of a number of full and part time luthiers. The instruments they make look very nice and worthy of note.
From Lyme Regis, UK he produces all sorts of fretted instrument including Ukuleles. He first started to learn to make instrument in evening classes and when this wasn't enough he went on to do a 4 year degree at the London College of Furniture specialising in violin family. However in the last year of the course he made Ukuleles for the embryonic Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain and this led him to make Ukuleles as well. In addition to making instrument he does make furniture too.
Based in Monferrato, France and building since the 1990's he is a full member of the EGB (European Guitar Builders) and makes mainly electric and acoustic Guitars. He does make other instruments as well though including Cajons, Ouds, the Mandolin family and Ukuleles including Guitaleles. On some of his sound hole label he uses his full name Nico Dayet-David.
Based in Pwllheli, Gwynedd, Wales he is self taught but has been making and repairing Guitars since the 1980's. In 2014 he added Soprano Ukuleles to his catalogue which has always included a nice line in Octave Guitars, (that he calls minis)
