Freshwater Soprano Ukulele
Freshwater Soprano
In being on the look out for nice Ukuleles I see the work of a number of full and part time luthiers. The instruments they make look very nice and worthy of note.

Kent Bull - Freshwater

From Sydney, NSW and largely self taught, he makes koa or mahogany Sopranos he calls the Iz and the Duke. Freshwater started in 2011

Pete Murphy

He has a workshop in Woodend, Victoria, near Melbourne, Australia. He is a carpenter and joiner by trade plus a Guitar player since the age of 10. With this background he thought "why not build instruments?" and started building and repairing instruments in the early 2000's. He makes Guitars as well as Ukuleles and likes sustainable materials for his instruments where possible, mostly using Australian timbers. He also likes using recycled and found objects (hub caps, fuels cans, biscuit tins) and says "You can get some great sounds from these found objects and different Timbers"

Tim Nicol

From Darwin, NT He trained as cabinetmaker and learned luthiery from on line lessons and then went on to make some instruction videos. I believe he started making Ukuleles in 2009
