21st c. Luthiers from Europe click for more
In being on the look out for nice Ukuleles I see the work of a number of full and part time luthiers. The instruments they make look very nice and worthy of note.

Stéphane Barry Soprano
He is a Midlands, UK luthier who specialises in making very high quality replicas of old Martin Style 0 Ukuleles, (Apparently his wife, Janet usually french polishes his output as part of the finishing process). He does do the occasional non Martin style Ukulele though and has made at least one Banjolele
He studied Luthiery in the violin school at Mittenwald in the late 1980's and after qualifying he went to work for Höfner. In 1993 having taken further courses he opened his own workshop in Augsburg, Germany where he specialises in Jazz Style Archtop Guitars but he includes an electro-acoustic steel strung archtop Tenor Ukulele in his catalogue that he calls the Jazz-Ukulele, (don't they all?).
Based in Villevielle, France he apprenticed with then spent 15 years working for Gérard Beuzon before setting up his own firm in 2014. He makes mainly Guitars but does also make other instruments like Banjos, Mandolins and a Soprano Ukulele model
