Veillette Baritone
Throughout the world there are small manufacturing firms, maybe a luthier who has expanded the operation and taken on some staff, maybe a number of craftsmen who have got together in some form of co-operative. However it started these manufacturers usually make very high quality instruments even if the Ukulele is not the firms main output

Folkcraft Instruments

Founded in 1968 and based in Woodburn Indiana, they started out making Dulcimers. there is not much of a history on the website just a couple of sentences to sum them up. "Folkcraft instruments are made with pride and tradition, using the same methods as our founders used in 1968. Folkcraft Instruments is a family business, with two generations of luthiers putting their skill and experience into every instrument they create. Our instruments are handmade in the United States of America, not in a cheap overseas factory. Our instruments are crafted one at a time, not on an assembly line. Our instruments are made of solid woods, not out of plywood." Anyhow, in about 2012 they introduced a range of Soprano, Concert and Tenor Ukuleles they brand Druid Moon into the catalogue. Made in a variety of woods they all feature a distinctive three quarter circle soundhole and bridge plus the end of the fret board cut to match the sound hole shape. The don't do extra strings, super scales or even cutaways bodys. though I have seen them make Mandolins, (but these don't feature on the website). The also produce a hybrid instrument they call a Dulcilele which is basically a Soprano Ukulele with a Dulcimer fretboard

Based in Stillwater, Minnesota they predominantly make Harps but they do make a lot of other instruments as well Like Guitars Dulcimers, Mandolins and of course Ukuleles. Every instrument they make including the Ukuleles can be purchased either as a kit, (hence the alternative name Harpkit) or as a completed instrument. For the Ukuleles They offer a Concert or a Baritone, both with their distinctive shape they call Dakota. In addition to the Ukuleles they do a couple of Banjos, one of which is a short scale Tenor Banjo that is the same size and has a suggested tuning of a Baritone Banjolele.

Veillette Guitars

Veillette Guitars, founded in 1975 (as Veillette-Citron) in New York USA by Joe Veillette, and mainly make Guitars. They have made  at least one custom Baritone Ukulele and also some Guitaleles based on their Merlin model Guitar (with an open option to make more plus other scales if asked). They now employ a number of other luthiers beyond Joe to do all of the work in the US plus there is a Chinese factory that makes instruments based on Joes designs.
