In being on the look out for nice Ukuleles I see the work of a number of full and part time luthiers. The instruments they make look very nice and worthy of note.
Bruce Jackson - Cayucos
From Cayucos, California, he has been making Ukuleles since 2000 (and possibly longer). Bruce creates Tenor Ukuleles made of rosewood, mahogany, cedar, koa or redwood and he puts a fish skeleton logo on the headstock
From Neenah, Wisconsin, he started building and repairing Instruments in the 1980's and though retired now he still makes a few each year. He specialises in professionally built Cigar Box Instruments including Ukuleles, but he does make proper instruments including proper Ukuleles too
Founded by Lo Gordon, (Tim's Father), in Brevard, North Carolina, in 1996 the output is mainly 5 string Banjos. They don't make Tenor Banjos but they do include Soprano, Tenor and Baritone scale Banjoleles in their catalogue. Tim joined the firm in 2005 and became principal builder. In 2013 Lo retired leaving Tim to do everything
