the Heel
The "heel" on a Ukulele, or any other fretted chordophone for that matter, is the base of the place where the neck meets the body. With bolt on necks through necks and the ones found on a lot of solid body electric chordophones there is not much, if any heel, but with most traditionally made acoustic chordophones it can be quite a large feature with the shape of it and how it joins the body telling you a lot about who made the instrument and sometimes where it came from. |
